At-home resources for kids and parents during Covid-19

To our KiwiCo community:

As parents, we share the same concerns about the uncertainty surrounding coronavirus, and the impact it will have on our families. Here at KiwiCo, we asked our team to work from home. Many of us have children who will be home with us for the foreseeable future due to school closures.

We know a lot of you are also trying to find a new normal, including keeping your kids busy at home. So today, we’re launching a resource hub for parents to help support learning at home, with loads of stay-at-home educational activities for every age, tips from teachers on effective remote learning, and kid-friendly content that connects science with their daily lives. To start with, we’re bringing you an explanation of the science of handwashing, to help kids understand why it’s so important. We’re going to be adding new content and resources to the hub regularly. We’ll also be switching up our newsletter to bring you helpful resources more frequently, and you can follow us on Instagram for daily updates.

Please take care of yourself, and reach out if we can help. We’re here to support you and your family during this time. We’re in this together.

    1. Hi Madison, thanks for reaching out.

We’ve been advised that all international deliveries should expect a minimum of 1-week delay. These delays are directly related to the health guidelines put in place to limit exposure of the virus to your local delivery teams. While this is not ideal for those at home waiting for their crates, we thank you for your patience and understanding.

  2. Would you all consider partnering with the Boys & Girls Club?? We are looking for ways to help our families stay creative and active during this challenging time, and feel like your crates would be an amazing resource our families might not typically have access to!

  3. Should we be concerned the crates and their contents may be contaminated with covid- 19? What precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of our children?

    1. Thank you for this question, Brandi. The safety of our products is our top priority.

KiwiCo products are tested by certified, independent product safety testing labs. All KiwiCo products pass safety testing to the appropriate US product safety testing standard (ATSM-F963).

With respect to concerns about Covid-19 transmission via materials such as cardboard, National Institute of Health (NIH), an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services. published a study (https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/new-coronavirus-stable-hours-surfaces) on March 17, 2020, that reported Covid-19 was, “detectable in aerosols for up to three hours, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel.” Also, the USPS issued a statement on Covid-19.

KiwiCo crates typically are warehoused for at least a month from the time they are manufactured, so the crate contents have not been handled in that time. Standard shipping time on KiwiCo crates is typically 3-7 business days from when it leaves the warehouse to arriving at customer homes. Additionally, our warehouse operations are following safety guidelines from federal, state and county health departments to keep our team and our products as safe as possible.

Thanks for reaching out. Please take care of yourself, and let us know if you have any additional questions. We’re here to support you and your family during this time.

  5. I am looking for a company who could delivery a basic craft supply box to each of the families in our Infant School who are in lockdown but trying to deliver creative tasks from our online teaching. Could you create a one of one with things such as glue, paper, card, paint, plastercine? For the Coronavirus Crisis that has created a Home Schooling situation for many of us?

  6. Do the objects in the box need to be sanitized when received? What is the company doing to ensure safety from Covid-19?

  7. Is KiwiCo taking any precautions in packaging the crates to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission? I am wondering if items in the crate need to be sanitized before children begin to use them. Thank you.
